Day 1
Take a morning hydrofoil ferry from Buenos
Aires to the 17th century Portuguese settlement of Colonia
del Sacramento, Uruguay. Private guided tour of the “World
Cultural Heritage” town. Houses made of mud, straw
and stones have been restored. Hidden charming inns and
museums create an air of nostalgic romanticism. In the
afternoon, your guide will drive you to the peninsula
beaches of Punta del Este, Uruguay’s “Riviera.”
Choose one of the many hotels set among tall pine trees
and white sand.
Restaurants, recreational facilities and entertainment
options abound.
Spend 4 days in Punta del Este.
Day 5
Fly from Punta del Este to Buenos Aires.
We suggest extending your stay in Argentina before returning
home.
Arrive in Montevideo and transfer to Estancia
El Charabon, in Rocha Province, your home for the next
six nights. Learn about the history of the ranch and,
this evening enjoy a typical “asado.”
Day 2
Travel by jeep to Guardia Del Monte, a
colonial farm located near La Laguna de Castillos. Meet
your local gauchos and horses and explore the incredible
countryside on a trail ride. Return to El Charabon for
dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Travel to La Pedrera, a famous fishing
town with beautiful beaches. Our ride today will be along
the long beaches of white sand. Return to El Charabon
for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Today, enjoy your free time at El Charabon.
They have walking trails and a swimming pool. Lunch, dinner
and overnight at El Charabon.
Day 5
Travel by jeep to the entrance to Cabo
Polonio, the site of lighthouses and now a charming community
of fishermen, artists and gauchos. Today’s ride
is along the beach, heading northwest toward the town
of Valizas. Stop on the way for a picnic lunch. Once in
Valizas, you will be able to observe the famous moving
dunes. Return by jeep to El Charbon for dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Depart in jeeps and meet your horses near
Punta del Diablo. Ride up the coast to Santa Teresa National
Park. Visit the colonial castle of Santa Teresa, which
was built to control the border with Brazil and changed
hands several times between the two countries. Ride along
the beach to La Coronilla to see Fortin de San Miguel.
Return by jeep to El Charabon for dinner and overnight.
