RAFTING
Costa Rica offers plenty of rafting for all levels. The mildest trips (class II) are on the Sarapiqui and Corobici Rivers, with the more advanced (class III-IV), on the Reventazon and Pacuare Rivers. All the rafting trips booked by GLTours are conducted by knowledgeable guides with all the required safety equipment.

SNORKELING/DIVING
The South Pacific near Drake Bay offers the top three diving spots in the country. Here you'll find Manta Ray, Snappers, Hammerhead Sharks and Sea Turtles. Average dive depth 60-80'. The best diving on the North Pacific is at the Catalina Islands, near Conchal Beach. 40-80' dives. All dives require PADI certification

SURFING
The north Pacific, around Tamarindo is a great option for surfers. On the central Pacific, Playa Hermosa and Jaco are popular surf spots for the more experienced. The biggest waves occur during the peak of the rainy season at Playa Pavones in the south Pacific and Puerto Viejo in the southern Caribbean.

FISHING
Marlin and Sailfish are plentiful in Costa Rica, making it one of the best places in the world for deep sea fishing. Full and half day trips are available all year-round from Quepos, the North Pacific and the South Pacific regions. Tortuguero, on the north Atlantic coast is known for Tarpon and Snook. Inland rivers and lakes are recognized for rainbow trout and rainbow bass (guapote).

CANOPY TOURS
Costa Rica is well known for its many canopy tours. It is exciting to explore the tropical forest canopy through a series of platforms, cables and harnesses. These tours can be found throughout the different rainforests and vary in quality and degree of difficulty. Sky Trek in Monteverde Cloud Forest and Arenal Reserve offer two of the best experiences.

HIKES, TREKS and WALKS
The various national parks and private reserves provide great options for nature lovers. Observe the canopy at a leisurely pace on suspension bridges. Hike Monteverde and Manuel Antonio on well-marked easy trails. Or, for something a little more challenging, hike to Cerro Chato, hidden within the forest around Arenal Volcano or the high treeless zone of Chirripo.

HORSEBACK RIDING
Many of the forest lodges and beach hotels throughout the country offer horseback riding. Trails are well marked and safe. Ride through cloud forests, tropical dry forests and rain forests and explore some of Costa Rica's most beautiful and remote lands.

GOLF
Play 9 or 18 holes on challenging courses found in the central valley and at various beach destinations. There are professional 18-hole championship golf courses at Paradisus Playa Conchal, Hacienda Pinilla and Cariari Country Club.
