Blue Hole Dive Site
Divers from around the world choose Belize to discover the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. The famed Blue Hole at Lighthouse Reef Atoll is a must when visiting the cayes. A large and picturesque circular reef, snorkelers enjoy clear waters, colorful corals & sponges, active fish and sea fans. Recommended for experienced divers, the stalactites and caverns begin to appear at about 120 feet. The still, crystal waters provide visibility for 200+ feet below.
Full-day dive trips begin early at 5:30am and return about 5:30pm. Meals and drinks are typically included.
Lamanai Mayan Ruins
Lamanai, meaning submerged crocodile, is located along the New River in Orange Walk district. It is one of the largest excavated ceremonial centers in Belize. In addition to the grand archeological structures, visitors will enjoy ancient artifacts on display in the museum, howler monkeys, exotic birds, and lush tropical plants.
From Ambergris Caye, a full-day guided tour begins at 7am by river boat. Guests of the Lamanai Outpost Lodge enjoy small group tours which are included with your stay.
San Pedro Village, Ambergris Caye
This small, sandy beach village is the center of activity on Ambergris Caye. Very casual and laid-back, tourists and locals travel by golf cart, bicycle and on foot down brick streets lined with cafes, gift shops, and dive & tour centers. Enjoy warm hospitality in one of the many boutique hotels and beachfront condos that offer a wide variety of amenities to match your budget. San Pedro on Ambergris Caye is an excellent choice for a destination wedding or family holiday.
Jungle Adventures in Cayo District
Complete your Belizean adventure by spending 2 or 3 nights in the Cayo District near San Ignacio and Mountain Pine Ridge. A two hour drive from Belize International Airport to jungle lodges that offer deluxe accommodations and amenities in natural settings. Day tours and adventures include full-service spa treatments, nature hikes, bird watching, canoeing, cave tubing tours, spelunking & caving, Mayan ruins and more.
Placencia Beach
Travelers looking for a quiet and relaxing beach destination should consider Placencia. With over 15 miles of white sand beaches, luxury resorts and spectacular fishing and diving, this tiny beach village is the perfect place to unwind and escape.
From Belize City, GL Tours will arrange an easy 40-minute domestic flight to Placencia. For those looking for a little more adventure, rent a jeep for a 4 hour drive through the countryside, but… slow down for speed bumps and potholes!
Tikal Ruins, Guatemala
Hike along tropical paths with a certified, Guatemalan naturalist guide to the spectacular ruins of Tikal. Climb staircases to lookout platforms higher than the treetops. Tikal was one of the most important Mayan centers of its time. A lot of the site has been excavated making this an extremely interesting and educational excursion.
Travelers visiting the western Cayo District can make plans for a full-day tour or an overnight visit. It is a 2 hour drive from the resorts near San Ignacio.
