Orange Walk District

For over 100 years, the Orange Walk District was timber country. Now, it is also the heart of sugar cane and agriculture production. Orange Walk has over 350,000 acres of protected rainforest, which includes the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area, Crooked Tree Bird Sanctuary, and the Community Baboon Sanctuary

We recommend staying 2 or 3 nights at one of the many jungle lodges. Popular tours available from the lodges include a visit to the Mayan ruins of Lamanai or Altun Ha. Birding is also very popular.
