The vast province of Darien, located in eastern Panama, is one of the great
wilderness areas of the Americas. Darien National Park has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
It protects 1.2 million acres of undisturbed tropical rain forest.
More than 300 species of birds, including the Harpy Eagle, four species of macaws
and many endemic species have made this territory their home. Rich in culture and history, Darien is the
land of the Embera, Wounaan and Kuna indigenous communities. |

Without a road system, much of the transportation here is done by river. For the
adventurous traveler, GL Tours offers birding and cultural tours into the Darien region. Accommodations are
rustic. The world class fishing lodge, Tropic Star, is located in Pinas Bay, Darien. Black, blue and
striped marlin, as well as sailfish are normally “right outside the front door.”
GL Tours will be happy to set up a fishing package for your group. |
